Chapter 126: Dormitory Friendship League
Right…? It was a toilet plunger, right?!
After confirming that there was nothing wrong with his eyes or brain, a strong sense of regret suddenly surged in the heart of the boy with the Tang sword.
He was wrong. He thought that coming here to fight to the death would allow him to leave with more dignity, but the facts proved that he was too naive.
He shouldn't have thought of resisting, shouldn't have used props to teleport here, shouldn't have overestimated his own abilities... Even if he was lying on his balcony waiting to die, it would be more dignified than dying in the hands of a toilet plunger!
But who the hell could have predicted that someone's weapon would be a toilet plunger, ah!!
Regret spread in the boy's pupils. He wanted to pull out his weapon and struggled one last time, but found that the handle of the sword was motionless in his hand.
- The rubber head of the toilet plunger firmly sucked the Tang sword.
Whether it was an illusion, Tang Xinjue smiled. "That's a good idea, but we don't have time to entertain the kids."
The rubber head flapped twice, and a ghostly howl soared through the sky, instantly piercing the top of his head. The boy with the Tang sword was caught off guard and was knocked over the railing by the sonic wave.
Another companion rushed to pull him back, but was also mercilessly slammed down by Zhang You's account book. The heavy sword and the Tang sword were knocked off the balcony by the toilet plunger, and they both screamed.
"Leave the weapons behind, but I won't send you back."
Tang Xinjue kicked the two weapons and tossed them to Guo Guo and Zhang You. Her face was refreshed, the dark circles under her eyes had faded.
"Are you f**king baiting?!"
A sudden roar came from below the balcony. The boy with the Tang sword had grabbed the bottom of the railing when he fell and tried to climb back up for a sneak attack. But when he looked up and saw Tang Xinjue's state, his mentality finally collapsed.
Tang Xinjue lowered her gaze and smiled, "No, it just works because of your cooperation."
She had indeed exhausted a great deal of her mental energy, but anyone who knew her knew she wouldn't allow herself to be overdrawn to the point of being unable to stand.
Using her remaining mental energy, she had more than enough to use for psychological suggestions. Although there were some unexpected situations... like when she sat down, she suddenly felt a gentle healing energy.
This healing energy seemed to restore her mental energy as well, and Tang Xinjue didn't even need to judge whether to accept it or not—in the game's judgment, this pure healing energy, without any offensive power, seemed to have the highest priority, automatically absorbed upon contact.
Tang Xinjue had some guesses, but in the face of the most urgent matter, these unexpected events were temporarily put aside.
As her thoughts turned, she didn't slow down at all. With a snap of her fingers, the boy was pushed hard by an invisible force, falling with a twisted look of doubt in his eyes.
[The informer's dormitory will be wiped out x1, and all candidates will receive three additional pieces of information.]
[1. The elf-catching activity has a 30-minute time limit.]
[2. The more you catch, the higher the difficulty.]
[3. Different dormitories have different catch limits; please keep in mind your own dorm's requirements.]
[Ding Dong, the elf-catching activity has officially begun!]
Having learned from Tang Xinjue's previous experience, the candidates' first reaction was to observe with skepticism. However, they waited eagerly for several minutes, but saw no sign of a single "elf."
There was not even a breath of wind in the air, and driven by some inexplicable premonition, no one spoke; the silence was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
606 was also waiting.
Tang Xinjue's gaze remained fixed on the clothesline, scanning it up and down. The four’s field of view covered every direction within the balcony's reach, not missing a single unusual sign.
While waiting, Zhang You whispered in her mind, "There are seven informers left..."
Tang Xinjue: "That's better than expected."
She hadn't originally intended to wipe out all the informers within five minutes. At this point, reducing the enemy's numbers by one point increased her chances of victory.
She already had a rough idea of the remaining seven informers. After exchanging glances, Zhang You nodded, understanding her meaning.
"Ah!" At that moment, a sudden cry echoed from somewhere in the dormitory building. "Wait, I forgot to take out my cloak—"
The cry cut through the stagnant air. At the same moment, several swift blue shadows swooped down from the rooftop, landing on the clothesline with a thud.
"Catch them!"
The elves that appeared this time were more agile than any before, like an evolution from a "test version" to a "full version." Even their ugly, skeletal bodies were covered in a layer of hideous scales, which suddenly opened and sprayed out green liquid when approached.
"The liquid is poisonous, don't get caught!"
As the students dodged, the blue elves swiftly leaped outward, reaching another dormitory in a flash.
Since they had descended from the sky, their first destination was the sixth floor. Almost immediately, a scaly elf scurried onto the clothesline in 606.
The elf bared its teeth hostilely at the students below, only to turn around and be smothered by Tang Xinjue's cloak. Before it could even spit out its venom, it was pinned firmly within.
"One!" Guo Guo exclaimed excitedly.
Tang Xinjue opened her cloak. "No, two."
Counting the elf they had snatched up earlier, two round blue elf balls lay side by side within the cloak.
The chaos outside continued.
Only a few dormitories managed to capture elves; the rest were left empty-handed. One student, who had previously shouted that they had forgotten to retrieve their cloak, had already leaped to the fifth floor by the time they had managed to do so.
This time, it was the students on the fifth floor who were shouting and yelling. The elves were not only fast, but their green venom was also incredibly difficult to defend against. While a student accidentally touched by them wouldn't die, the corresponding body part would be paralyzed, forcing them to throw their cloaks to their roommates, cursing. However, in the process, the elves had already vanished.
"This is too hard! Catching the Golden Snitch? We don't even learn Quidditch in school!"
It seemed that about ten elves had fallen in this wave, but only four had been caught after three floors. At this rate, by the time the 30-minute deadline was up, most dormitories wouldn't even be able to get enough elves, let alone touch them.
Tang Xinjue narrowed her eyes as she observed the scene below. "Since this level has clearing requirements and rewards, it shouldn't be made incredibly difficult. This should just be a buffer period for us to adapt to the elves. The real capture phase is still to come."
Zhang You immediately realized, "So, we need to observe them now, observe their characteristics."
Guo Guo and Zheng Wanqing suddenly realized, "I see!"
... After a few seconds, Guo Guo replied truthfully, "But they're so fast, it's impossible to see clearly."
Zheng Wanqing's brows furrowed. "I can keep up with them, but I don't know what to observe."
Confused, she and Guo Guo simply sketched a blue elf image and filled in the information based on Tang and Zhang's summary.
Not long after, Tang Xinjue said, "Behavioral habits, or rather, limitations."
"A blue elf can only skip three dormitories on the same floor, and can only skip one floor at a time when descending. This must be the limitation imposed by the game."
Zhang You added, "Even if no one approaches a dorm, it will only stay in one for five seconds at most before immediately scurrying to the next."
As they spoke, two more elves were captured, and in a rare move, they landed on the same balcony.
The shield girl held her shield in one hand and her bulging cloak in the other, her body positioned in an offensive position at the junction of 307 and 308.
She was fighting with the boy in 308, wearing a black mask, for the second elf.
The masked man's cloak was blocked by the shield, and the elf, only half covered, was still struggling frantically. Seeing that it was becoming increasingly difficult to escape, the boy suddenly laughed: "You can't get it, and neither can I. Why are you trying to fight with me?"
The shield girl remained indifferent and asked instead, "Are you an informer?"

T/N: quick note, I might have mistranslated the previous few chapters. The word is jingling 精灵 which can translate to elf / spirit but in this chapter there’s this phrase jinglingqiu 精灵球 that can also mean… Pokeball. So you can also read this as them having been catching Pokemon all this time… Then again, I read ahead and one of the characters questioned why is it called 'jingling', and there has not been any other reference, so maybe not. I'll keep it as elf for continuity's sake.
